Homicide-Suicide in Italy Between 2009-2018: An Epidemiological Update and Time Series Analysis

Abstract Homicide–suicide is an event in which individual murders one or more persons and then takes his/her own life. The present study aimed to assess the incidence of homicide-suicide Italy over a 10-year period (between 2009 2018) compare its findings with national international data. Furthermore, time series analysis was carried out employing autoregressive integrated moving average model. Data regarding cases were collected from press agencies four major Italian newspapers. In considered frame, 368 homicide–suicide identified, total 808 deaths. Findings aligned data, highlighting that murderer typically older male who, for romantic jealousy, kills firearm his current former female partner. rate homicide–suicides 0.06%, showing increase compared previous decades. addition, forecasting model predicted further coming years, need systematically gather data on this phenomenon.
